Sir Sadim’s Stunners beat OG, Alliance, and Na’Vi to win Midas Mode

Sir Sadim’s Stunners came out on top of a competitive field comprised entirely of The International-winning teams in Midas Mode 2.0.

The unique and amusing tournament featured a European division that reunited the championship-winning lineups of Alliance and Natus Vincere circa 2013 and 2011, respectively. It also included OG, fresh off their victory at The International 2019.

Surprisingly, these legendary teams proved to be no match for Sir Sadim’s Stunners, a squad comprised of European streamers and journeymen including Wehsing “SingSing” Yuen, Troels Lyngholt “syndereN” Nielsen, Alaan “SexyBamboe” Faraj, Niklas “Wagamama” Högström, and Janne “Gorgc” Stefanovski.

Some of this can be chalked up to the wacky ruleset of the tournament and the casual approach it invited. During the group stage, OG played entertaining games with eccentric hero picks such as Techies, Riki, and Pudge.

Alliance took control of the group stage, dropping just one game against OG. With a 6-1 score, the team was guaranteed a place in the Europe grand finals. Meanwhile, OG had an early exit after losing all three of its series.

Sir Sadim’s Stunners and Natus Vincere faced off in the semifinals to determine who would face Alliance in the grand finals. Sir Sadim’s Stunners took the victory after a clean 2-0 finish.

The team advanced to the grand finals for a best-of-five series against Alliance.

Sir Sadim’s Stunners kicked off the series with a win thanks to a strong lane comprised of Gorgc’s Lich and syndereN’s Juggernaut. Though they had an early advantage, the VR-controlled version of Roshan was too powerful, instantly killing Juggernaut. Sir Sadim’s Stunners had to change plans.

Alliance capitalized on this time to create space for its core heroes. The team was able to take fights, but were never able to take objectives. In the end, Alliance tapped out.

The second game was lopsided. Sir Sadim’s Stunners’ momentum continued as they racked up a 20,000 net worth advantage by 25 minutes. After some friendly taunts in all-chat, Sir Sadim’s Stunners sealed the game with another victory.

Once again, Sir Sadim’s Stunners had a strong laning phase in game three. The team took advantage of its early lead and did not let Alliance bounce back from its deficit.

Sir Sadim’s Stunners claimed the champions title after a 3-0 series against Alliance. The team was rewarded $22,000 for its first-place finish.
