Should you play Baldur’s Gate 3 or Starfield?
If you ask Michael “shroud” Grzesiek, you should play Baldur’s Gate 3 instead of Starfield. Here’s why.
Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield are the biggest games of the summer, with both fighting for the number one spot on Steam. Both are massive games, but there’s not much else in common aside from their expansive worlds. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired RPG, while Starfield is an open-world space adventure.
A lot of people have been wondering which game to play since both will take hours and hours of their life to complete. There’s only so much time. If you ask streamer shroud, you should play Baldur’s Gate 3.
shroud bashes Starfield after streaming the Bethesda game
shroud started off streaming Baldur’s Gate 3 and has since switched to Starfield. But after grinding Bethesda’s space game, shroud is not feeling it as much as he had initially hoped.
After completing a quest for an NPC in Starfield, shroud called it a “simple fetch quest” with no “secret, alternative” way to accomplish it.
“The game, unfortunately doesn’t take itself too deep there,” shroud explained. “If you’re trying to be like, ‘Oh, I want to do it this way,’ chances are you can’t do it that way.”
This is in big contrast to Baldur’s Gate 3. During his time playing Baldur’s Gate 3, shroud said he was rewarded for doing things his own way.
“That’s why Baldur’s Gate 3 is, by far, the game of the f—ing decade. That is truly like, ‘Oh, you want to do it that way? Yes, do it that way,'” shroud said.
In the end, Starfield’s lack of true decision-making left shroud unimpressed. While the game may be expansive in size, it seems like there are not a lot of options for how to complete different challenges and quests. The game being so straightforward takes away from the RPG aspect of the game.
