Shlatan awarded LEC Rookie of the Split after Misfits makes playoffs

Reading time: 2 min

The Rookie of the Split award for the 2022 LEC Spring Split goes to Misfit Gaming jungler Lucjan “Shlatan” Ahmad.

It only took Shlatan one split to prove why he was picked up in the LEC this season, taking Misfits to the playoffs and performing consistently well against the best junglers in Europe throughout the regular split. Shlatan takes the award despite the heavy competition but prevailed after finishing the regular split in third place with an unexpected 12-7 record together with Misfits.

The great regular split had Misfits start the playoffs in the upper bracket but take a loss to Rogue in the first round followed up by a 3-0 loss to G2 Esports in the lower bracket. While this means that Shlatan and the rest of Misfits didn’t play up to par in the playoffs, the future still seems bright for the young Polish jungler.

Shlatan has played an important role in the success of Misfits. The big shining light for Misfits this season has been mid laner Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié, who has taken every opponent by storm. Helping Vetheo get unlocked throughout the season, Shlatan has been crucial in enabling his French teammate so he can carry.

Most notable is the amount of assists that Shlatan has acquired throughout the regular split, finishing at 138 total which is the most out of any jungler. Shlatan is by no means the carry of the team but has instead proven to be an incredible facilitator to set up his teammates for success.

With a KDA of 2.9 and 293 damage per minute throughout the regular split, Shlatan has been the consistent factor that Misfits has needed in the jungle to keep finding wins. Though Shlatan still has some way to go to be considered among the best in his role, this first split marks a promising start for the young talent.

Shlatan will return with Misfits when the 2022 LEC Summer Split kicks off later this year, likely with a lot of newfound confidence and the potential to improve even more. This only seems like just the start for Shlatan.

Flakked and UNF0RGIVEN are LEC rookie runner-ups

Taking the secondary spots in the LEC Rookie of the Split awards are two bot laners. G2 Esports’ Victor “Flakked” Lirola is still active in the playoffs as G2 will face Fnatic for a spot in the grand final.

MAD Lions bot laner William “UNF0RGIVEN” Nieminen had a solid showing in his first LEC split. Unfortunately, he and MAD Lions couldn’t find enough consistency to qualify for the playoffs, finishing the split in a rough seventh-place showing.

UNF0RGIVEN did show some great games by the end of the split as he and MAD Lions secured three wins in a row. With a total of 24 kills over the course of those three games, this definitely helped UNF0RGIVEN climb the bot lane rankings.

The LEC still needs to crown its MVP for the split, which will likely be revealed this weekend when the LEC grand final takes place.
