Riot Games has continued to keep fans updated on its plans for development, with updates on reworks, LoL quick play, and more.

After a lackluster start to the season with a disappointing cinematic combined with an uncertain future for events, Riot Games has decided to make active efforts towards more transparency. This has involved regular video updates from senior Riot Games staff laying out their plans. The latest video includes updates on reworks, midscope updates, skins, and even a new LoL quick play mode.

Dev Updates shows off LoL quick play

The Dev Update video included senior members of Riot Games, Riot Brightmoon and Riot Meddler. As in past videos, they updated fans on the game’s direction. The first thing addressed was Skarner’s rework, which will be delayed due to an ongoing development process. The biggest update for many fans will be the addition of a Quick Play mode for fans, something that will replace the previous Blind Pick mode.

Quick Play will allow players to lock in a preferred role or champion in queue. They are then guaranteed to get one of those once the game finally starts. From there, players will be allowed to select runes and pre-game abilities before being tossed straight into the action. No Champion Select, no drafting, just straight into play. This is meant to replace Blind Pick entirely. Blind Pick is currently the least popular game mode in all of League of Legends. If you’re more concerned with getting a game of League of Legends in over counter-picking or forming the perfect team composition, this is perfect.

Quick play offers the opportunity for faster, lower-stakes games of League of Legends for casual fans. Less time spent preparing for the game and more time playing seems like a great compromise for that section of players.
