Respawn Entertainment job listings reveal that the game developer is working on a new FPS title that takes place in the Apex Legends universe.

Apex Legends is a game that’s rich in lore, with the launch of each new legend revealing more about the story behind the battle royale’s universe. There’s a complex story behind the vibrant, aggressive gunfights, and it looks like Respawn Entertainment is hoping to explore it even more with a new game.

Not much is known about the new Respawn game, but the job listings give some hints at what’s to come for fans of Apex Legends.

What is the Apex Legends FPS going to be like?

Respawn Entertainment recently dropped a job listing for a senior engineer to join the team working on the “Apex Universe FPS Incubation Project,” which is a placement name for the new mystery game. From job listing details, we can gather that the game is set in the Apex Legends universe.

A job listing for a hard surface artist calls it a “single-player adventure.”

“This new single-player title is a developer’s dream playground with the freedom to innovate made possible by the unique universe it inhabits. Our critically acclaimed, multi-platform games have always established a ‘fun comes first’ sensibility created with the notion that great ideas can come from anyone, which allows creativity to shine and individuals to shape the game in meaningful ways,” the job listing reads.

Beyond these little tidbits of information, however, not much has been revealed about the FPS just yet. The game hasn’t been officially announced and is most likely early in its production. The game was first announced in 2021 when the initial job listings were dropped for a “brand new single-player adventure.”

For now, the new game is a mystery. The only thing that’s for certain is that it’s single player and may take place in the Apex Legends universe. It’s unclear if it will use the same characters. Some fans are also wondering if it will include elements from Titanfall, the universe that spawned Apex Legends.
