PSG.LGD, Adroit, Thunder Predator win WeSave! regional finals
PSG.LGD, Adroit, Thunder Predator win WeSave! regional finals
PSG.LGD dominated China’s top team Vici Gaming in the regional finals of WeSave! Charity Play.
PSG.LGD’s newest roster debuted at WeSave! Charity Play and the team instantly showed its chemistry. After some underwhelming tournament results and several roster shakeups, the team looks poised to make a big comeback.
The Chinese team ended the tournament without dropping a single game. PSG.LGD stomped Invictus Gaming in the semifinals and proceeded to end Vici Gaming in the same fashion. Yang “Chalice”‘ Shenyi seems to fit well to his new role as the team’s carry.
The tournament may not be an official Dota Pro Circuit event, but PSG.LGD proved that it’s ready to return in the limelight.
Thunder Predator had a similarly stellar run. The team knocked down beastcoast in clean 2-0 sweep during the semifinals. The grand finals of the South America region pitted Thunder Predator against NoPing e-sports.
Thunder Predator did not let NoPing e-sports chalk up a single game. The Peruvian team ended the tournament undefeated.
The team recently won the title at Rivalry’s No Major No Problem tournament. Its momentum translated to another successful run at WeSave! Charity Play.
Adroit squeezes past GeekFam for SEA Dota 2 crown
Southeast Asia’s finals was different from the lopsided wins of PSG.LGD and Thunder Predator. GeekFam and Team Adroit brawled in a rugged best-of-five series.
GeekFam kicked off the grand finals with a win, but Team Adroit evened it up in the second game. The third game saw a convincing win for Team Adroit.
With his back against the wall, Karl “Karl” Jayme pulled off several impressive plays that translated to a victorious game. GeekFam annihilated its opponents from there and forced a fifth and final game.
Team Adroit did not let this lower its morale. The team came back stronger in the deciding game, winning the series by a 3-2 margin.
WeSave! Charity Play might have been just a series of show matches, but it provided an avenue for many fans of the game to get some Dota 2 action while at stuck home.
The coronavirus pandemic has put a pause in the esports calendar. WePlay! hosted the fundraising event to help in the battle against COVID-19. The organizer aims to reach $200,000 donation and it’s now more than $186,000 with few hours left.
