If you encounter more Team Go Rocket grunts than usual, it is because of the Crackling Voltage event. The event is taking place right now in Pokémon Go, featuring a Legendary Pokémon that will shock you.

The Crackling Voltage event in Pokémon Go revolves around Electric type Pokémon. These appear more frequently in the wild, with an increased chance of finding shiny versions. The event is introducing the shiny variants of Helioptike and Tapu Koko. Yes, the Legendary Tapu Koko from the Alola region, which is featured as the five-star raid boss.

The Pokémon appearing more frequently in the wild are:

  • Ekans
  • Magnemite
  • Grimer
  • Electrike
  • Stunky
  • Blitzle
  • Ferroseed
  • Helioptile
  • Grubbin
  • Beldun
  • Dedenne

If you are getting ready for the Pokémon Go Tour Hoenn Global, keep your eyes on Electrike. It evolves into Manectric, and the Mega Evolution is exactly what you need when facing Rayquaza. You might have the Mega Energy to get it and just don’t know it, time to check your Pokémon. Invest in Mega Manectric to secure your Rayquaza.

Crackling Voltage event raid battle

The raid battle bosses during the event include favorites like Shinx and Jolteon, but also some good options ahead of the Pokémon Go Tour event. Mawile is one of the three-star raid bosses, this is the perfect contender against Rayquaza since it is a dual Steel and Fairy type.

Mawile can be found in the wild, but getting one through a raid gives it a little edge. On the five-star raids, you can find Tapu Koko and Registeel. Again, two excellent Pokémon to take to battle against Rayquaza.

In the mega raids tear, you can find Mega Gengar and Mega Aerodactyl. While these are not directly useful in the upcoming event, these are generally good options to have in your arsenal.

Team Go Rocket takeover

During the Crackling Voltage event, you might find Team Go Rocket grunts more often, and even the baddest guy in the bunch, Giovanni. The Team Go Rocket leader shows up and brings with him Shadow Registeel.

To encounter Giovanni, you need a Super Rocket Radar. This is a mission in two parts, you must face the Team Go Rocket grunts who will give you Mysterious components. Six pieces make a radar, using it you can encounter Arlo, Cliff, or Sierra. You need a Radar to encounter each leader, it means that you need to face 18 grunts in total. A special Field Research task will award Mysterious Components, potentially reducing the number of encounters.

Defeat Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra to get one Super Rocket Radar piece, you need three to build the item and find Giovanni. The reward for defeating Giovanni is Shadow Registeel. You will invest some time, but the reward is a Legendary Pokemon.

Crackling Voltage event 12 Km Eggs

The event has one of the rarest Pokemon hatching from the 12 Km eggs, Salandit. This dual Poison and Fire Pokémon is rare, and if you are lucky enough to get a female Salandit, you might get Salazzle.
