Players hopeful after Valve adds Overwatch to expose CS2 cheaters
Overwatch is back in CS2, but to be able to get access, you must be a trusted player.
Counter-Strike 2 may be a new game but has the same old problems. Cheaters are as common in CS2 as in CSGO, but Valve has taken a step in a positive direction to tackle the problem. With the return of Overwatch, Valve is seeking the community’s help to weed out the cheaters.
The recent surge in reports against cheaters has convinced Valve that Overwatch, a feature that allows trusted players to review games, is a need. It was available in CSGO but not in CS2. Now it has made a return, but with a twist.
How do I get Overwatch in CS2?
Valve has announced that everyone who plays CS2 will not have access to Overwatch. Only “trusted” players will be Overwatch investigators.
The criteria for becoming an Overwatch investigator in CS2 is a mystery yet to be unveiled by Valve. This has sparked a wave of curiosity and anticipation among the gaming community. Could it be similar to CSGO’s criteria? Only time will tell.
If this remains the criteria, then most CS2 players may end up getting access. But for now, it’s tough to tell what changes Valve may make to ensure Overwatch remains in the hands of genuinely fair and trusted players.
Thus far, the response to Overwatch has been primarily positive. However, a few complain that the new system doesn’t necessarily reduce the number of cheaters in the game. On the other hand, some players are satisfied that reviewing suspicious games would at least let them know if their enemies were cheating, which gives them peace of mind.
The same release notes also bring Dust2 back to the active duty map pool and add a left-handed model view to CS2.
