Overwatch 2 shared the trailer for Invasion, a new PvE story, and here is how it works.

Invasion is the biggest update for Overwatch 2 since its release. Invasion will mark the release of a new Support hero, the highly anticipated Flashpoint game mode, and the new PvE story.

Ahead of the update, which is scheduled for August 10, Overwatch 2 released a trailer for the update. In it, we can see Null Sector invading Toronto and local Omnics attempting to evacuate the area.

How does the PvE story work in Overwatch 2?

The PvE story will be available from August 10, when the update is scheduled for release. However, it won’t be free.

In order to access the three missions that are part of the update, players must purchase the Invasion bundle. This bundle has a price tag of $15.

Players had a negative reaction to this news. One of the appealing features of Overwatch 2 is the game being free-to-play. Not having access to certain parts of the game is a slap in the face for players, especially when it’s not living up to the hype at all.

Blizzard is hoping the Invasion update brings some of its more enthusiastic players back to the game. Overwatch 2 has reported some low engagement from players, a byproduct of the developer’s decisions. Including the decision the scrap the entire PvE mode.

Will Overwatch 2 have a PvE mode?

Overwatch 2 will not have a permanent PvE game mode. Despite it being one of the biggest promises made by Blizzard, the PvE mode has been scrapped from the plans.

According to Overwatch 2 director Aaron Keller, the scope grew too big with the team trying to do too many things at once. Blizzard pulled resources from the live game to invest in PvE but in the end, decided to scrap the entire project and focus on the live game as it is.
