The Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2022 event is going live soon, and a selection of new cosmetics and weekly challenges are coming with it.
To mark the start of the Year of the Rabbit, Overwatch is bringing back the Lunar Year event. Blizzard is still tight-lipped about the nitty gritty of this annual event, but there’s plenty to glean from leaks and previous year’s content. Overwatch 2 soothsayers have dug out numerous cosmetics, skins, and time-limited game modes.
Overwatch 2 developer is firing on all cylinders to keep up the standard it set with the game’s original installment. So far, Blizzard has done a great job by consistently adding new content in heroes,
Winter Wonderland event, and then Battle of the Olympus. But more is on the horizon. Overwatch 2 Lunar Near Year event will give players another chance to win skins and cosmetics.
Here’s everything we know about the highly-anticipated event celebrating the year of the Rabbit.
Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year event cosmetics
Overwatch 2 leakers have revealed some content that may become available in the Lunar New Year event. According to credible leaker Naeri, Moira Lion Roars is one of the skins in the event.
Players can get the support hero’s Lion dance skin. Draped in yellow and blue, the red-haired hero will also get a lion’s mask to go with the outfit.
It’s also pretty easy to bag this skin. According to the leaker, the Moira Lion Roars pose and dancer skin will go live between January 12, 2023 (4 am GMT+9) and January 26, 2023 (4 am GMT+9). In order to get the items, players must watch eight hours of stream. After watching the stream for two hours, they should get at least the pose.
Two Korean skins will also be part of the Lunar New Year event. The items include:

Lucky bag Weapon Charm
Red Envelope Souvenir
Finally, DPS hero Mei’s Chinese skin may also become available during the event, as officially teased in
Overwatch 2 Season 2
trailer. This particular skin may require going through hoops but fret not. Blizzard may add some free items as well.

There will likely be time-limited game modes in Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year event. The developer hasn’t revealed what games would return, but these are some modes players can expect from the event.

The event should start on January 17, 2023, and run through until February 1, 2023, at least, according to
Blizzard. But the dates and timing may vary once the event gets an official announcement.
