‘Tis the season to catch snowballs in Overwatch 2! Players can unlock rewards and XP by simply capturing piles of snow.
The Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland event is back with four modes that will let players burn off steam in frosty games. Snowball Deathmatch, Yeti Hunter, Freezethaw Elimination, and Mei’s Snowball Offensive are now available to play. But Mei’s Snowball Offensive has a new twist that some may find confusing. Instead of waiting for the snow to reload their icicles, players can catch incoming launchers.
Deathmatch is typically to practice aim, but in
Overwatch 2’s new mode, players can fight with each other using snowballs. They’ll be pitted against fellow Meis equipped with snow launchers. Grabbing six incoming balls will automatically complete the Caught in a Cold challenge, earning you the Junker Queen Ornament Spray and 1,500 XP.
So, it’s clearly worth knowing how exactly to catch a snowball in Overwatch 2.
How to catch snowball in Overwatch 2?
The idea is to reload the icicle with the enemy’s snowball. Each icicle can equip up to three balls at a time, but to reload them, you must wait for a pile of snow. But, if you grab the enemy’s launcher, you can toss it back instantly, surprising the Mei. This is a quicker, more effective way to beat more enemies while completing the Caught in a Cold challenge.
To catch a snowball:
Load up a game of snowball deathmatch.
Wait until an opponent tosses a snowball at you.
Once the snowball closes in, press R3 on PlayStation, RS on Xbox, Right Stick on Nintendo Switch, or melee button keybind on PC.
You might need some practice before actually grabbing the snowball by following these steps. Again, timing is the key to getting it right. If you press the melee button early or late, the ball may damage you.
