Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland event is wrapping up, but the party has just begun. Blizzard has finally unveiled a golden event in Battle for Olympus.

After blanketing players in snow during the Winter Wonderland event, Blizzard is now unlocking a pandora of gold. Battle for Olympus cherry-picks select heroes and injects them with god-like powers. It’s not all for fun. Players can also earn rewards during the event that runs till the Lunar near year event.

Overwatch 2 is a fiercely competitive game at its core. There’s no room to mess around, but casual players like to have fun in creative game modes. For them, Blizzard occasionally rolls out PvE events solely to have fun. The developer now seems to be creating a new mode that lets players fight as gods and higher beings.

The Battle for Olympus will run from January 5 to the 19th.

Battle for Olympus

Battle for Olympus was first teased in Overwatch 2 Season 2, and Blizzard has finally dropped a teaser. While gameplay for the mode is clear, the developer is still tight-lipped about the rewards.

Battle for Olympus is set in Greek mythology, cladding the seven heroes in gold armor. Players are hoping that a godly gold skin is part of the reward package, but it’s all speculation for now. So far, the trailer has showcased Junker Queen calling on gods to rain lightning bolts during her Rampage ultimate, Ramattra lifting enemies off the ground with his Ravenous Vortex, Widowmaker turning enemies into stone, and more.

Here are the seven heroes who made it to the Battle for Olympus:

  • Poseidon Ramattra
  • Medusa Widowmaker
  • Cyclops Roadhog
  • Minotaur Reinhardt
  • Hermes Lucio
  • Hades Pharah

Set in Château Guillard, it seems the heroes will be on their own to fight it out for survival. The free-for-all time-limited deathmatch has teased new voice lines, boosted powers, and skins for Reinhardt, Lucio, Pharah, and others.

The developer has teased “divine rewards” in the trailer, but it’s unknown what these rewards entail. Players are hoping to cop a skin or two from this event. Voice lines and poses could also be part of the prize package during the Battle for Olympus event. Besides these rewards, winners will also get a token of appreciation from Blizzard.

Whoever eliminates the most enemies will be honored with a marble statue on a Greek landmark, Illios. This is pretty remarkable for a limited-time mode event.

“To raise the stakes on this epic battle, we’ll be tallying eliminations on a global leaderboard! The hero with the most will be honored with a statue in Ilios!” Overwatch 2 said.

That’s not all. 2023 is packed with bounties and rewards for Overwatch 2 players. Once Battle for Olympus concludes on January 19, players will be able to dive right into the Lunar New Year event, which begins on January 17 and runs through February 6.
