Accomplished Dota 2 organization OG continues to spread its wings across the esports world.
During OG Night, OG announced the signing of Janne “Gorgc” Stefanovski. Though there were rumors about him joining OG’s competitive roster, it was revealed that the streamer will instead be joining the organization as a content creator, at least for the time being.
This is a big acquisition for OG, which has spent its life to this point as a competitive Dota 2 team with little else to speak of. Though OG has sponsored Super Smash Bros. Melee player James “Swedish Delight” Liu since 2018, the organization has had no operations beyond that besides its wildly successful Dota 2 squad.
Adding Gorgc continues OG’s transformation into a more traditional esports organization, and is positioning OG for a massive 2020.
Who is new OG member Gorgc?
Gorgc first popped up on the Dota 2 scene’s radar during his time with Horde, a Swedish roster that competed in a variety of qualifiers and regional events in 2016 and 2017. From there he transitioned into being a streamer on Twitch, almost exclusively streaming his Dota 2 exploits.
He has appeared on the competitive end of Dota 2 on a few occasions in the years that followed. He most notably made it into the European closed qualifiers for The International 2019 with Team Bald, and most recently won Midas Mode 2.0 with Sir Sadim’s Stunners. He was spotted earlier this month
playing in a supposed scrim
alongside four members of OG against multiple members of Evil Geniuses, which saw Gorgc go 26-0 as Slark.
Today, he is one of the most popular dedicated Dota 2 streamers in the western world, with over 300,000 followers and 29 million hours watched.
He will be joining OG as a content creator, though the exact plans for him were unclear. He will likely predominantly work as a streamer for the team, and established OG members discussed possible plans to have him contribute to coverage of events as a sort of interviewer or hype man. Official details on this will come at a later date.
The expansion of OG has been one of esports’ bigger surprises over recent months. OG was founded in 2015, but maintained limited operations in other games. That changed in December with the signing of a new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team, which came alongside the reveal of a sister Dota 2 team in OG Seed.
With three teams to its name and an uptick in content creation efforts, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for OG as an organization.
