The mysterious AD carry from Riot Games’ 2021 champion roadmap has finally been revealed as Zeri, the Spark of Zaun.

Zeri was previously teased on the League of Legends Universe website, where her bio appeared alongside the very first art of a new marskman. Zeri wields an electric gun and other lightning-based powers judging by her preview and splash art.

Who is Zeri, the Spark of Zaun

Riot Games has been teasing a Zaunite AD carry for some months now, focusing on potential electrical powers and a unique gun. After it was announced that the character would not be one fans saw in the animated show Arcane, fans were curious who would be next to join the League of Legends roster. The answer is Zeri, the Spark of Zaun.

Riot has discussed wanting to try unique auto-attack mechanics on new marksmen like Zeri, so it’s likely that we’ll see some sort of steady beam of electricity attack from her rather than the traditional auto-attack style. Apart from that, Zeri’s bio describes her as highly empathetic with electric powers that ebb and flow with her emotions. From her biography, Zeri is a freedom fighter looking to liberate Zaun from the exploitative grip of the Chembarons. Zeri’s special gun was crafted by her mother, and it channels her emotions into powerful blasts of lightning.

Zeri likely knows Ekko, a fellow Zaunite freedom fighter, but the exact nature of their relationship is unclear. Zeri will likely hit the PBE on patch 12.2 before rolling out to live servers with patch 11.23.

She looks to have a fast-paced and aggressive style in the bot lane, using lightning-quick movement and electric blasts to bring shock and awe to her opponents. She is the second lightning-focused character that Riot Games is hyping up the release of, with a new agent in Valorant named Neon also getting serious hype ahead of her arrival.

Zeri is now front and center on the list of possible champions that could appear in Arcane’s second season given her introduction as the newest champion after the animated series ended and her connection to Zaun. Her abilities have not yet been revealed, but that can be expected to come in the next few days.
