New Champion Milio, the Gentle Flame revealed

The next champion to come to League of Legends has been revealed. Here’s what you need to know about Milio, the Gentle Flame.

Milio is an upcoming enchanter support from the kingdom of elemental magic, Ixtal. He’d been announced at the start of the year, with some hints from 2021 also pointing at his arrival. The details are now clear, and fans have gotten their first look at Milio’s aesthetic, story, and theme. A fire-wielding child from the kingdom of Ixtal, Milio is naturally adept at wielding what his people call the fire axiom.

Milio, the Gentle Flame revealed

While fans haven’t yet had any official looks at Milio’s gameplay mechanics, there are still tons to get excited about. Riot Games shared the first look at Milio, and a first listen to his signature musical theme. And while the League of Legends developer won’t likely drop any official details on his kit until March 6 or 7, there are still some clues that fans can glean from Milio’s musical theme video. First, here’s everything we officially know about Milio.

Milio’s champion title is The Gentle Flame, referencing his innocent aspect and his befriending of fire spirits. Milio’s biography sheds some light on exactly how this young firebug fits into the lore of Ixtal, LoL’s latest region.

“Milio is a warmhearted boy from Ixtal who has, despite his young age, mastered the fire axiom and discovered something new: soothing fire. With this newfound power, Milio plans to help his family escape their exile by joining the Yun Tal—just like his grandmother once did. Having traveled through the Ixtal jungles to the capital of Ixaocan, Milio now prepares to face the Vidalion and join the Yun Tal, unaware of the trials—and dangers—that await him.”

Milio is a natural at fire magic, one of the ancient elemental magics that the Ixtali people refer to as “axioms.” He was raised by a family exiled for plotting against the Yun Tal, the ruling caste of Ixtal. Trying to right the wrong of his ancestors, Milio is making the pilgrimage to Ixtal’s capital to try and join the Yun Tal like his grandmother before him. He first learns his aptitude for fire magic after following a firebug to an injured hunter, who he restores to health with a soothing flame. This is yet another confirmation that Milio will be a support enchanter champion, focused on healing, protecting, and enabling his teammates.

More details about the adorable new arrival to LoL should come soon as Riot Games prepares to bring him to live servers.
