We now know why Mizkif and Maya broke off their relationship
Popular streamer Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo has given fans a heartbreaking relationship update.
In a September 14 tweet, Mizkif shared a TwitLonger with fans that revealed his relationship with streamer and conservationist Maya Higa had ended. The two have broken up and both Mizkif and Maya wanted to tell the streaming community and their fans the reason behind the decision.
Mizkif and Maya open up about break up
Mizkif and Maya started dating in the summer of 2019. The popular streaming couple told viewers they were planning to get married at one point. This has made the news about their breakup quite sad for many of their fans.
In the TwitLonger, Mizkif and Maya stated that the decision to breakup was mutual. The couple felt that the breakup was best for both of the content creators considering the states of respective lives. Mizkif and Maya assured fans that there was no cheating or drama involved.
“We both care about each other so much and are still friends,” the former couple wrote. “We’re supporting each other through this and we ask that you all do the same for us both.”
Due to the troubling life event, the two streamers are taking a couple of weeks off from streaming. They will be spending time away from live streaming and content creation to take care of themselves and better process the break up.
Mizkif and Maya thanked their fans for supporting them throughout the two years that they were in a relationship together.
“We can both say that they’ve been some of the best years of our lives and we’re super grateful. See you in a few weeks,” Mizkif and Maya said.
Why did Mizkif and Maya break up?
Despite Mizkif and Maya saying that the breakup was mutual, fans have continued to speculate as to the exact reasons behind the split. Some felt that Mizkif had grown “too close” to controversial streamer Natalia “Alinity” Mogollon, and that this might have driven a wedge between Mizkif and Maya.
Others felt that Mizkif and Maya would date again as soon as a month or two after the announcement, and that the couple was pretending to breakup for the sake of content and attention.
Fellow streamers Asmongold and Imane “Pokimane” Anys offered words of encouragement to the former couple. Asmongold told Mizkif that he was there for the pair, while Pokimane offered “much love” to both streamers.
