Midas Mode receives EG bid to eliminate cliffs, Secret chimes in
Midas Mode receives EG bid to eliminate cliffs, Secret chimes in
Evil Geniuses has joined in the fun of the Million Dollar Midas Mode project.
Evil Geniuses expressed its interest in Sir Sadim’s pre-selling of assets in the Dota 2 map. In a Twitter post, the team offered to buy all cliffs in the upcoming Midas Mode 2 tournament. Evil Geniuses’ conditions include removing all cliffs from the map should the team enter an elimination game.
Tournament organizer Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner willingly agreed to the change and charged the team $3,333 for its desired purchase. The specific price is referencing to Evil Geniuses’ three third-place finishes in the current Dota Pro Circuit season.
The Dota Pro Circuit’s frontrunner, Team Secret, then weighed in. The team suggested adding an option to purchase additional cliffs on the map in response to EG wanting them wiped out.
This all may sound dubious, but Midas Mode 2 aims to stand out from other Dota 2 events by executing on a handful of crazy ideas. A “Capri Sun and Gun” Witch Doctor is a peek to some of these ideas coming to the game.
Artour “Arteezy” Babaev had more than his fair share of memorable moments on cliffs. This predicament has sometimes put Evil Geniuses at a disadvantage during team fights during big games.
The team’s recent Dota Pro Circuit run featured unfortunate multiple cliffed moments for Arteezy. This brought forth fans dubbing the famed player as “Cliffteezy”.
Several tournaments, such as The Chongqing Major, DreamLeague Season 11, and Paris Disneyland Major, have highlighted Clifteezy moments.
The Million Dollar Midas Mode Project has reached more than $10,000 in crowdfunding. The most highly demanded feature thus far is Sadim Screen Advertisements, which cost $20 each.
Recently, SirActionSlacks revealed that Midas mode will bring in “Axe Milos” to the tournament. This turned the hero Axe turned into a Ricardo Milos persona with a red bandana and American flag thong.
