Blizzard developers have teased some interesting upcoming buffs for Junker Queen.
Junker Queen is one of the latest tanks introduced in Overwatch 2. She has an aggressive playstyle and is meant to survive team fights, but players are having a hard time figuring out how to fit her into the current meta. She has a steep learning curve, a complex kit, and other tanks are more effective.
In response, developers are looking to make some big changes to the Australian warlord.
Season 2 just came out but developers are already looking forward to the mid-season patch. During Season 1, the mid-season patch came with a lot of buffs and nerfs, so gamers should expect the same for Season 2.
Alec Dawson, lead hero designer, opened up in a recent livestream about some plans for Junker Queen. While he didn’t go into specifics, he said that the changes will be “really spicy.” This includes some buffs, but it’s unclear what exactly they will be.
The spicy change is scheduled for the mid-season patch. This will be released the first week of January, meaning Junker Queen mains won’t have to wait too long. Until then, Doomfist is dominating the tank role.
Junker Queen is occasionally criticized by the community for her complex kit. She offers mobility, health buffs, and multiple ways to shut down healing. While strong on their own, it’s difficult for players to use her diverse kit to its fullest potential. The upcoming Junker Queen buffs could consolidate her myriad effects into a single ability or spread them out more evenly, making it easier to contribute to fights.
Junker Queen has a very interesting kit. While she is aggressive and complex, however, Junker Queen isn’t seeing a lot of play compared to other tank heroes on the roster. She is currently the squishiest tank and has no armor or shields. She also doesn’t do as much damage as Roadhog and Zarya, has worse mobility than other tanks, and can’t block incoming attacks.
