JD Gaming has advanced to the semifinals after defeating KT Rolster at Worlds 2023. JDG continues to walk the golden path and is one step closer to making history.

JDG is the third LPL team to qualify for the semifinals and is looking even more like a favorite to take the Worlds 2023 title.

KT wouldn’t go down without a fight. The LCK’s third seed took game one and had an outstanding performance during the rest of the series. Unfortunately, outstanding is not enough against a team like JDG. While KT could match JDG on a mechanical level, it was the decision-making around team fights that gave JDG the edge. Simply put, JDG knew how to fight better.

Small things made the difference in this match. Support Lou “Missing” Yun-Feng spent a significant amount of time in the enemy jungle, gaining vision and keeping track of KT’s jungler. The support turned this positional advantage into flanks and team fight initiation that KT couldn’t stop. Every time Missing ambushed the opponents, he had more than enough backup.

JDG advances to semifinals at Worlds 2023

Without Gen.G in the tournament, the second favorite to win, it feels like JDG already has it in the bag.

The next opponent will be the winner between LNG Esports and T1. If the trend continues, T1 could exit the tournament early and it would be an all-LPL ending for Worlds 2023.

All eyes are now on T1, the last hope for the LCK. T1 already faced Bilibili Gaming in the qualifying round and came out victorious with a clean 2-0. Throughout the tournament, T1 has improved its performance, showing the team’s ability to adapt. In a recent video, T1’s players spoke about how communication is playing a critical role in their game. Can T1 be the one to put an end to the golden road? We’ll have to wait and see.
