IShowSpeed apologizes for promoting crypto scam to young fans

IShowSpeed scam

Despite an abundance of controversial situations, YouTuber Darren “IShowSpeed” Watkins Jr. has continued to grow into one of the most popular streamers on the platform. His latest controversy had him apologizing, however, after he was involved in a crypto scam.

IShowSpeed, who has over 13 million subscribers, was recently accused of promoting a crypto scam known as “Paradox Coin.” This cryptocurrency is part of an open world game called Paradox Metaverse where players earn the Paradox Coin.

At the time of the accusations, IShowSpeed demanded that anyone speaking out against him should be removed from his chat. He claimed that the skeptics were “getting on his nerves,” calling on mods to kick them out.

“The fact that y’all would ever even think of me like that. I don’t even know if y’all are trolls or not, but the fact that you guys would ever think of me like that is kinda f—ed up. It’s kinda making my feelings hurt,” IShowSpeed said on November 16.

Despite initially standing his ground about the cryptocurrency, IShowSpeed has come back with an apology. Earlier today, the streamer said he’d made a “mistake” by supporting the crypto-based game.

“You know, I’m not that smart. I’m gonna be honest. But as I go, I get smarter and smarter, bro,” IShowSpeed said.

He insisted that he’d never purposefully scam his fans. He said he cares about his fans “so freaking much.” The seemingly genuine response to the criticism had most fans forgiving him for the mistake.

A lot of people pointed out that IShowSpeed is still young and it’s normal for him to slip up.

“I just hope he really learned his lesson. These crypto cash grabs are literally full of s—. I still don’t understand how him or his manager actually thought this would be a good idea but fine… He deserves a second chance. But yo, his manager really messed up big time,” said one fan.

Others were more skeptical, however. One fan posted a video demanding that IShowSpeed give his fans a “better apology.” Comments included fans saying they were disappointed and hurt by IShowSpeed while others felt he didn’t even try to really apologize to his fans after promoting a scam.
