Teabagging is very common in gaming, especially in multi-person shooters like Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, and Overwatch 2. It’s a classic move that’s meant to be a disrespectful, trolling taunt. But should players stop teabagging?

Teabagging is easy to do. You usually have to simply crouch and uncrouch as fast as you can, often above a fallen teammate or enemy. Players have become creative and there’s now even a twerking variant in CS2.

Now, Overwatch 2 players are debating if teabagging should be allowed.

Is teabagging wrong in Overwatch 2?

On Reddit, an Overwatch 2 player opened the floor to discuss teabagging. In the post, they said: “I’ve seen lots of posts and comments saying teabagging is like super toxic, why do you think so?? I’ve always thought of teabagging as something light-hearted and funny to do especially when you’ve died to a player multiple times. For me it’s really not that deep?”

The response has been varied. But the majority of players felt that the context matters. Sometimes it can be funny and other times it can feel disrespectful.

Explained one player: “Like Ana killing a Reaper and teabagging? Funny. Teabagging when you’ve been rolling the other team all game? Just being an asshole and trying to add insult to injury.”

Another gamer agreed, saying that it should only be done if you achieved something difficult or it’s during a funny moment, like a Torbjorn one-on-one. But doing it to upset the other team if they’re already doing poorly is considered being a “douche.”

Still, teabagging can often be distracting and frustrating in the moment. A lot of players admitted to ignoring the actual objective during a game if someone teabags them, deciding to dedicate their efforts to gunning down that exact troll instead.

Maybe teabagging should just be left to casual games.
