The competitive Teamfight Tactics scene is heating back up, and details around the TFT Gizmos and Gadgets Championship have now been revealed by developer Riot Games.

Teamfight Tactics uses regional qualification events to seed various players into each set’s international tournament. Those regional qualifiers are already underway, and Riot has stepped forward to share the exact details around the upcoming TFT Gizmos and Gadgets Championship and who will be appearing as competitors.

TFT Gizmos and Gadgets Championship seeding

The international event for Riot Games’ Runeterran auto-battler will be composed of five EMEA seeds, five Chinese seeds, four North American players, four Korean contestants, three Brazilian players, three from Latin America, two competitors from Japan, two from Oceania, and two more each from the Asian Cup Regional Bonus and the Western Last Chance Qualifier.

The tournament will be played out over three days, with rounds composed of 32, 16, and eight players on each respective day. The overall prize pool totals at $300,000, the largest total prize for a Teamfight Tactics tournament ever. The event will begin on April 29 and run through March 1, 2022. Each day half of the contestants will be eliminated, whittling down the number of competitors until only a single lobby of players remains.

The championship event will be broadcast live across Riot Games’ channels on Twitch and YouTube when it hits in April.

TFT Gizmos and Gadgets Championship looks to ease pro complaints

There have been several recent instances of professional Teamfight Tactics players complaining about the state of the TFT’s balance during Gizmos and Gadgets, as well as the lack of sustainability in its professional scene. Popular streamer and pro TFT player Michael “K3soju” Zhang most recently criticized the grind required for players to make it through multiple regional-specific qualifiers and tournaments.

Riot Games seems to be trying to address these issues by making the payout more substantial for pro players, but there’s no comment yet on whether the qualification process will change to reward the most consistent pro players at the highest level without forcing them back through the same qualifying grind each time.

TFT Championship streaming details

The TFT Gizmos and Gadgets Championship will be streaming on the official Teamfight Tactics Twitch channel for the English broadcast, and through secondary channels for other languages. The English-speaking broadcast will be available in the same place as North American regional tournaments and will begin on April 29 at a still unannounced time.
