Dota 2 just added a ton of anniversary skins to celebrate ten years, so here’s how to get them.
Dota 2 has changed a lot in the last ten years, enough that a time-traveling gamer may not even recognize it. All along the way, millions of players and Valve itself have driven the game forward. Now, the company is paying it back to the community with a new set of free cosmetics. Here are details on the event and how to earn all 13 of the fancy new skins.
The anniversary technically celebrates the official release of Dota 2 in 2013, but the gifts stretch back all the way to the early beta test in 2011. Each of the skins celebrates a year in the history of Dota 2. Some of them aren’t hero skins at all, instead decorating Roshan and the Tormentor. There’s also a Gabe Newell chat message pack to compliment the iconic killstreak lines.
Here are all of the free Dota 2 anniversary skins added in chronological order. Each of the updated skins comes with a new color palette, model changes, and particle effects.
To earn the free Dota 2 10th anniversary skins, players simply need to win matches between August 17 and September 7. Each win will grant one treasure with non-repeating rewards. Winning 13 games shouldn’t take too long, but there’s a three-week window to earn them all. From what we can tell, there will be no way to get to the skins after the event ends.
