Starting in 2023, players will be able to connect Pokemon GO and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is coming out on November 18, but players will have to wait at least a couple of months before they can connect it to Pokemon GO. According to The Pokemon Company, it will be possible at some point in 2023.

The announcement clarified that transferring Pokemon directly from Pokemon GO to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will not be possible. Instead, players must use Pokemon HOME. In that case, what is the purpose of the linking?

Gimmighoul might be the answer. The tiny Pokemon appeared in Pokemon GO ahead of the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Gimmighoul follows players around, but it is not possible to interact with it. Some Poke Stops have turned gold, and when players interact with it, they receive a coin. Once Gimmighoul appears, it asks for the coin, but it is not possible to give it to it.

Once the games are connected, players will be able to catch the Roaming Form Gimmighoul. However, it is unclear if another form will be available and if it will be transferable to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Pokemon GO can also be linked to Let’s Go, Pikachu and Eevee. It allows players to transfer a Meltan and receive a bonus box. Again, it is unclear if similar benefits will be available with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How do I connect my Pokémon GO Account?

In the main game menu, go to Options and select “Open Pokémon GO Settings.” Next, select “Yes” and let the game search for a Pokemon GO account.

On Pokemon GO, tap on the Poke Ball and go to Settings. Scroll down to “Nintendo Switch” and tap it. Tap “Yes” until the console, and phone get paired up. Note that Bluetooth needs to be on the phone.
