Overwatch 2 player count

The launch of Overwatch 2 was ridden with hiccups, but the game maintains a solid player count after hitting 25 million unique players.

Blizzard’s free-to-play team action shooter didn’t have a flawless release, but the game has hung tough. After breaking into the 25 million player count club, Overwatch 2 has maintained a promising player base two weeks after its release. So far, Blizzard’s F2P action game is on the right track, gaining players despite initial issues in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 has quickly become popular among players. The developer announced that the game was reaching new peaks daily with peaks almost triple that of the original game. Where Overwatch 1 took eight months to hit the 25 million mark, Overwatch 2 did it within ten days of its release.

“The game has proven to be a global phenomenon, already achieving a daily player base spread near-even across EMEA, Asia, and the Americas that’s nearly triple the previous daily player peak from the original Overwatch,” Blizzard said in a press release.

But is the Overwatch 2 player count still solid? The statistics say yes.

Overwatch 2 player count is strong in 2022

According to a credible tracker Active player, Overwatch 2 is still peaking at 164,000 players every hour. Since its release, the game has recorded 10,233,054 active players on the servers.

Overwatch 2 still has fast queue times two weeks into the launch. 10.2 million is a sizeable count for a new game met with DDoS attacks, bugs, and generic log-in issues. The game’s burgeoning popularity and contrasting player count with Overwatch 1 could be attributed to the new free-to-play status. While Overwatch 2’s in-game items remain a precious commodity, it’s still free for all, roping in more players from similar shooter titles.

Overwatch 2

In 2022, Overwatch 2 has become more popular among Valorant fans who find it easy to jump between the titles. While they sure differ a lot, Overwatch 2 is appealing to character-based shooter fans, adding to its growing player count. Dedicated Valorant pros and streamers have shown interest in Blizzard’s action game, taking Overwatch 2’s steam appeal to another level.

October saw over 67,859,055 viewers tuning in to Overwatch 2 content on streaming platforms. The numbers were pretty wild for Facebook as well, attesting to the game’s popularity.
