Hollow Knight Silksong

Hollow Knight, a 2D action adventure game, became an immensely popular game despite its simplistic premise. By 2020, over 3 million copies had been sold. Now, fans are finally getting a sequel in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Hollow Knight is a pretty difficult game, likely inspired by Dark Souls. The boss battles are especially challenging, making this one of the most iconic Metroidvania games of all time. Gamers play as a nameless insect-like warrior that is traversing Hollownest, a kingdom that has fallen to a supernatural disease. Players can unlock new abilities as they explore various subterranean locations and learn interesting pieces of lore about the kingdom.

By now, most people have beaten Hollow Knight (or at least attempted to). Luckily for them, a sequel is around the corner.

When is Hollow Knight: Silksong coming out?

This year’s the year! Hollow Knight: Silksong will be released before June 2023.

Hollow Knight: Silksong was originally revealed in February of 2019 with few updates, but the game did showcase a new trailer at the Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase at E3 2022. Xbox stated on Twitter that the long-awaited game would arrive before June, but there is currently no specific date. The moment it does drop, however, Xbox players will be able to get the game thanks to the Xbox Game Pass.

Hollow Knight 2 platforms confirmed

Based on the above trailer, it’s quite evident that Hollow Knight 2 will be available on Xbox Series X and Xbox One. But the game has also been confirmed for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. PC players will be able to purchase Silksong via Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store. This was a relief to fans of the series, who originally worried that the game would be for Xbox exclusively.

Hollow Knight: Silksong gameplay

The first Hollow Knight 2 trailer showed Hornet breaking free after getting kidnapped, ending up facing various enemies and meeting new friends while exploring a meadowy area. NPC characters will have quests available along the way.

The second trailer gave even more insight into the gameplay fans could expect. Hornet will become a playable hero, using her agility to outpace enemies. Hornet appears faster than the Knight and can also heal three health nodes instantly while moving.

While there’s a new protagonist and some new battle techniques, Hollow Knight 2 will still be a blend of platforming and 2D combat. The addition of Hornet will make platforming a bit more aerobatic but the core gameplay will be very recognizable.

Hollow Knight: Silksong story

In Hollow Knight 2, Hornet is kidnapped and whisked away to the kingdom of Pharloom. This kingdom is “haunted by silk and song,” according to developers. The goal is to fight your way to the top of the kingdom, reaching a citadel that will reveal the details surrounding the kidnapping. Throughout, players will also take on side quests, keeping track of progress in a journal.
