Is Hollow Knight: Silksong coming out on Xbox, Switch, or PS5?

More than three years after its initial announcement, it’s still unclear to many fans whether Hollow Knight: Silksong will come out on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms.

After years of waiting, Metroidvania fans got a look at some gameplay footage of the sequel to the 2017 classic. Fans got a glimpse of how Hornet will handle, showing some familiar moves from her arsenal from the original Hollow Knight as well as a few new skills.

The trouble was that this trailer came during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase event. As was recently seen with Street Fighter 6, which was revealed during Sony’s State of Play with a trailer that wrongly suggested PlayStation exclusivity, trailers at these sorts of events aren’t always forthcoming with future console platform information.

So what platforms will Hollow Knight: Silksong come out on? Here’s what we know.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will come out on PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch

It has been confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will come out on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Its PC release will be available across Steam, GOG.com, and the Humble Store, and will include Windows, Mac, and Linux support.

The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase confirmed the anticipated game will receive a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass. This means Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have access to it on launch without having to actually purchase the game.

It is currently unclear whether Hollow Knight: Silksong will receive a physical release. The original received a physical release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2019, more than two years after its initial launch. Hollow Knight: Silksong could receive a physical release on one or more platforms at launch, or it could have some manner of limited release.

Will Hollow Knight: Silksong come out on PlayStation?

At present, Hollow Knight: Silksong does not seem to be getting a release on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.

Much of the early looks at the game came via Nintendo’s social media channels and press releases confirmed a Switch release. The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase then confirmed an Xbox release.

Press materials and the official website have not indicated that a release on Sony platforms is coming. It’s possible that this will change before the game’s release, but at present, it doesn’t seem like Hollow Knight: Silksong will come out on PlayStation 4 or 5. It does remain possible that the game will come to PlayStation consoles at a later date, but fans who want to play Hollow Knight: Silksong may need to look beyond Sony platforms.
