The WePlay! Bukovel Minor has been an interesting tournament on multiple fronts. The event has seen a number of top Dota 2 teams face off, with new squads establishing themselves as serious forces in the larger international scene.
One of those teams is Geek Fam, which includes former TNC Predator offlaner Carlo “Kuku” Palad. The player sat down with WIN.gg to discuss the event, the state of Geek Fam, and what the team was looking to get out of the WePlay! Bukovel Minor.
What are your thoughts on your opening series against Ninjas in Pyjamas?
Kuku: Game one was a hard game for us. The problem is there’s no catch on our team. We’re relying too much on grouping so maybe that’s what made the game really hard. They know what they’re doing. They never fight us. They keep pushing towers and picking off our heroes. Game two, the draft is very comfortable.
What was your first impression of the outlanders patch and how do you feel about it now?
At first I didn’t know what to do. Even items, there were so many new things. I couldn’t memorize it. But I know how to play already. It’s so easy already. There’s a new objective so even in your pubs, you need to communicate more.
What are your predictions on the new heroes being introduced to captain draft mode?
Snapfire right? I think Snapfire will own, the laning is really strong. With Void Spirit, there’s high mechanic skill. Maybe they will own the game.
Where do you stand on the LoL vs. Dota 2 debate?
For me, there’s no denial it’s Dota 2, right? That’s it. There’s no denying it. The players doing extra doing in the lanes, it’s not so hype.
What are your expectations for this event?
I don’t have any expectations, really. Upwards and up. It’s gucci. No expectations.
