Fortnite Season 4 Chapter 2

Fortnite is getting a big update tomorrow but a lot of the details are already available — and 24.40 is bringing a lot of changes.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 is coming to an end but an update is still on its way: v24.40. It will drop Wednesday, May 17, 2023 and will come with a bit of downtime. Fortnite players can expect a few hours of downtime but the exact time and duration is unknown right now.

Fortnite v24.40 early patch notes

Ranked mode

Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite is getting a Ranked mode for both the battle royale and Zero Build. Like other competitive games, you’ll have to complete placement matches to find out where you stand and then grind your way up the ranks. The Ranked tiers right now are:

The first season of Ranked is being called Season Zero. It will last until the end of Chapter 4 Season 3, giving players a chance to fight their way to the top while developers “make adjustments” to issues they see.

With a Ranked mode coming, Arena is getting removed. Fortnite players had a lot of complaints about this mode anyway, so it probably won’t be missed.

More Star Wars Quests

The Star Wars crossover is continuing with new quests in the v24.40 update. The crossover is full of missions that come with exclusive Star Wars-themed cosmetics and rewards. There will be more quests for fantasy fans when the update goes live, so the grinding can continue.

Fortnite update 24.40 bug fixes

Per usual, developers are looking to improve gameplay. Many bugs will be addressed in v24.40, including outfits that keep appearing shiny and Clone Trooper’s head movement looking too static.

Check out this Trello board to keep track of all the bugs Fortnite devs are aware of and working on.
