Fortnite v10.30 has changed the battle royale’s map once again.
This time, the update brings two new rift zones. Moisty Palms and Greasy Grove were fan favorites that Epic is bringing back for Season X.
Moisty Mire, the swampy area in the southeast of the map, was removed in Season 5. Its replacement, Paradise Palms, became a favorite landing spot for competitive and casual players alike.
Moisty Palms hasn’t come back to replace Paradise Palms, much to fans’ relief. Instead, Paradise Palms and Moisty Mire have been combined to form a new rift zone. Moisty Palms combines the swampy water and foliage of Moisty Mire with Paradise Palm’s buildings. The POI’s fan favorite unnamed prison area is also back, just outside of Moisty Palms.
This new rift zone also brings a new gameplay feature to Fortnite. Players who crouch can disguise themselves as random items like trash cans. This creates an element of surprise for unaware opponents. While in disguise, players can still take damage.
After being submerged under ice for almost a year, Greasy Grove has made its much-anticipated return. While Greasy Grove has kept its original layout, fans will notice something different about its restauraunt: It’s now a taco eatery.
While the layout is the same, Greasy Grove also introduces a new game mechanic: Spicy Tacos. When tacos fall from the sky, players will automatically start dancing. While flossing and shufling, players can’t take any damage. They’ll also regenerate 20 HP per second, unless they’re in the storm.
As they drop to the ground, the spicy treats become consumables. They not only offer 10 effective health, but a 40% speed boost for a 20 second duration. If not picked up, the tacos will evaporate.
It seems as though Epic is on a mission to please fans this time around after the backlash from the B.R.U.T.E.
10.30 introduces a new feature called “Community Choice.” This has players voting on what item is featured in the Fortnite shop. The first vote will take place this week.
A Limited Time Mode created by a Fortnite player, AlanShinohara, was also added to the game. Knock Town was a top-three contender for the LTM Creator Contest where players use the grappler to “jump around and dodge shots as you one-tap enemies in the air with the Flint-Knock Pistol.” The player with the most eliminations wins.
The Tactical SMG has been unvaulted, offering a high rate-of-fire alternative for players sporting the Pump Shotgun. The Burst SMG was vaulted.
