Evil Geniuses vs. Dignitas: 2022 LCS Spring betting analysis

Reading time: 3 min

The second week of the 2022 LCS Spring Split will kick off with a match between undefeated team Dignitas and LCS Lock In finalists Evil Geniuses.

After a great start to the spring split last week, Dignitas will look to keep its winning streak alive by taking down one of the best teams in the LCS. The opponent is EG, who recently played in the LCS Lock In final but has gotten off to a weaker start in the spring split. EG started out by beating TSM but took a loss to Cloud9 to end the first week.

Dignitas played a flawless first week by taking down Immortals and TSM, respectively. Both matches showcased how Dignitas is still improving as a team and is starting to look like a dark horse in this split. Going up against EG will be its hardest task so far, but as of right now the match might not be as one-sided as one might think.

Inspired and River in focus when Dignitas takes on EG

Based on results so far this season, it’s by no means impossible that Dignitas could come out on top and create an upset. Even though Dignitas has the best current record, EG will be the favorite, but that’s likely something that suits Dignitas.

Dignitas is known for being a team that can bring upsets and that thrives under the radar. With all the pressure on EG to win this match, the players from Dignitas can play their own style and try to overcome the higher individual level of EG. It’s a task that won’t be easy, and the jungle matchup will be especially important.

The player that everyone has kept their eyes on from EG is new jungler Kacper “Inspired” Sloma. After playing for Rogue, Inspired has come to the LCS and has thus far performed at an extremely high level. Inspired is the one who dictates the tempo for EG and often sets up his carries for success. If Dignitas manages to disrupt the flow of Inspired, then the game could be wide open.

The player tasked with this will be Dignitas jungler Kim “River” Dong-woo, who has been very successful on Jarvan this season to the point that he has won all five games played on the champion. This opens a big win condition for Dignitas, but there’s a clear opportunity for EG to ban out the champion.

Chance for an upset between EG and Dignitas in the LCS

Looking at the individual strength of these teams on paper, it’s clear that EG is the favorite to win this match. Dignitas has some great players but is lacking the star power that makes a team really scary. What Dignitas does have is the ability to play together as a team and to set up its players that are most likely to carry. This strength from Dignitas has led to several unexpected wins already this season, making this match very interesting for people who are looking to bet on an upset. Comparing results with the odds for this match, it’s clear that betting on Dignitas could be worth a shot for a potentially high return.

Going with EG in this match will give odds of 1.39 and would need to be combined with other matches for a real profit. Going with Dignitas at odds of 2.75 can be a good bet if the team manages to pull out the upset

The match between Evil Geniuses and Dignitas will kick off on Saturday, February 12.
