Convergence: A League of Legends Story is a 2D action platformer made by Riot Forge, Riot Games’ publishing effort for games set in the world of Runeterra.

Riot Forge is a way for Riot Games to publish other developers’ games set in the world of League of Legends without having to spend development resources of its own. The latest Riot Forge title is Convergence: A League of Legends story, a side-scrolling action game about Ekko, the Boy Who Shattered Time.

What is Convergence?

Convergence is an exciting new game developed by Double Stallion in collaboration with Riot Forge, the publishing arm of Riot Games. It takes players on a thrilling journey through time with the champion Ekko from the popular online MOBA game League of Legends. Combining elements of action platforming and time manipulation, Convergence offers a unique gaming experience that immerses players in Ekko’s world and allows them to explore some of his untold adventures.

The game introduces players to Ekko, a young prodigy from the city of Zaun, known for his mastery of time manipulation. In Convergence, players assume the role of Ekko. It also features three other iconic Piltover and Zaun champions, with Jinx, Camille, and Warwick all appearing.

With its captivating storyline, players are taken on an epic adventure through a dark future, encountering both allies and enemies along the way.

One of the standout features of Convergence is its innovative time-manipulation gameplay mechanics. As Ekko, players can harness his unique Chronobreak ability. This enables them to rewind time and alter the outcome of events.

This mechanic not only adds depth to the gameplay but also serves as a strategic tool, allowing players to overcome obstacles and outmaneuver adversaries. It opens up a range of possibilities for puzzle-solving and iteration through platforming mechanics, making every encounter a dynamic and thrilling experience.

The game’s visuals are stunning, bringing to life the vibrant and diverse environments of Zaun and the various historical periods players will explore. From the dark and gritty streets of Zaun to the grandeur of Piltovan streets, Convergence’s attention to detail and art direction creates a visually immersive experience. The game also benefits from Riot Forge’s commitment to quality, ensuring that players feel fully immersed in the world of Ekko.

Convergence editions

There are three versions of Convergence available for purchase through a variety of platforms. These are the Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Edition.

The Standard Edition is available on PS4/PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Steam, GOG.com, and the Epic Games Store. All editions are available through The Standard Edition only includes the base game and no additional rewards or goodies.

The Deluxe Edition comes with the Convergence Deluxe Edition, a digital comic book, digital artwork, and two skins for the game. The two skins are Star Guardian Ekko and Ruined Ekko, and can be equipped for a new style for Ekko inside of Convergence.

The Collector’s Edition is the ultimate option for Ekko or Convergence fans. It includes a Collector’s Edition box, Ekko Figurine, comic book, art book, and pin set. If you simply can’t get enough of Zaun’s resident punk prodigy time-traveler, this is the option for you.

Convergence gameplay

Convergence is a 2D action platformer in the truest sense of the genre. Focusing on Castlevania-esque mechanics, Ekko sprints, dodges, and fights his way to save Zaun from villainous schemes. The game is a side-scrolling action game that focuses on chaining together various abilities to clear dynamic levels of enemies. Reminiscent of retro games like Metroid, if somewhat simplified, it includes some modernizations like a skill tree and ability set for Ekko.

Most of the game’s depth comes from Ekko being able to rewind time. Every time Ekko dies or takes damage, the player is able to rewind to moments before the unlucky event, armed with the knowledge of when the danger is coming. This is one of the core mechanics of the game’s central ideas. Ekko behaves exactly how League of Legends players have come to expect him, slowing enemies, diving in and out of danger, and zipping back to safety at the last moment.
