The last semifinal of this year’s League of Legends World Championship will be a brawl between China’s EDward Gaming and Korea’s Gen.G.

This matchup will be between two teams who have done very well thus far at Worlds 2021, but at the same time have shown some weakness and inconsistency.

Given previous results at Worlds 2021 to date, EDG will be entering as the favorite after taking out defending MSI champion RNG in a five-game thriller during the quarterfinals. Gen.G completed a sweep of Cloud9, but many believe EDG faced a greater challenge in their playoff victory.

Now Gen.G will go up against its toughest competition yet and these players will be put to a test. EDG managed to win the 2021 LPL Summer Split but the team is yet to show that dominant level here at Worlds. Even though EDG has played well, there still seem to be cracks in the armor. It’s up to Gen.G to find those cracks and abuse them to pull off the upset.

If Gen.G doesn’t manage to do that, much is indicating that EDG will be able to dominate in the early game where Gen.G has looked shaky all year. Gen.G is usually playing for the late game, but that likely won’t work against EDG who are immaculate in team fights.

EDG stock on Fandex will be the safe choice against Gen.G

For the Fandex players out there who are participating in the esports stock exchange during Worlds, this match could be one to earn some profit on.

Heading into the match, the EDG stock is at $13.23. This is still fairly low despite its good quarterfinal result. The EDG stock dropped a lot during the last day of the group stage and is only now starting to recover. A win against Gen.G will definitely send the EDG stock higher, but the question is if it will be a great enough profit to justify investing in the team now.

Gen.G could see a bigger spike in its stock price despite already being up a lot at $17.81. In general, Gen.G has surprised throughout the tournament and that reflects in the rising stock price thus far. Making an upset against EDG should reward the Gen.G believers a lot on Fandex and potentially make it one of the stocks with the biggest profits this year at Worlds.

EDG the odds favorite against Gen.G at Worlds 2021

In this match where two very different styles will likely be showcased, it’s about looking at who will play the best into the opponent. Gen.G will likely play towards comfort with late-game champions and try to win against EDG in the macro game. EDG could come out swinging with early aggression, but Gen.G shouldn’t underestimate EDG’s ability to team fight. EDG on a good day should be able to beat Gen.G fairly convincingly, which is why the LPL squad is considered a big favorite in this matchup. It will all depend on which Gen.G turns up for the match.

While there is a chance for a close battle, it’s EDG who will have by far the lower odds at 1.47. Gen.G is put at odds of 2.5 as the team looks to create an upset

The last semifinal at Worlds 2021 will take place on Sunday, October 31.
