The 2022 LCK Spring Split is starting soon and will include some great matchups in the first week. One of them will be the defending champion DWG KIA against KT Rolster.

As a new season starts, it’s always extra exciting to be following the best leagues around the world. New rosters and a new meta is awaiting the players when they hit Summoner’s Rift, making most matches seem unpredictable and special in their own way.

The start of a season is also the chance for teams to make upsets and potentially beat opponents based on better preparation. During the first week of the LCK, this is something KT Rolster will try to achieve against DWG KIA. The team will be entering the season with five brand new players picked up from various prominent teams.

One of the big factors for KT Rolster will be its bot lane, where Kim “Aiming” Ha-ram is returning from the LPL to be the main carry of this squad. To assist him will be former Gen.G veteran Kim “Life” Jeong-min, who will hopefully bring a lot of consistency to the team.

On the other side will be DWG KIA, who has also made some big changes after failing to win the 2021 World Championship. The team has made changes in a total of three roles, only leaving jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu and mid laner Heo “ShowMaker” Su left from the old squad.

DWG KIA has made the gamble to replace old stars with young and hopeful talent, with former Gen.G top laner Noh “Burdol” Tae-yoon. Down in the bot lane, it will be the former NS RedForce duo of Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil and support Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu who will take on the bottom side of the map.

The key matchup for this game could potentially be the bot lane, where all four players are sitting with a new team. DWG KIA could have an edge as the bot lane has played together before, making it easier at the start of the season. DWG KIA will still have the star duo of ShowMaker and Canyon, but the two will have a lot of pressure on their shoulders.

For KT Rolster, this first match will be a big test of how well their practice has been going so far. If the five players can find synergy right from the first week, it’s possible that KT Rolster can come out and start the season with a bang. The same goes for DWG KIA, except for the fact that this team is expected to place high in the standings from the get-go.

DWG KIA predicted to beat out KT Rolster in LCK 2022

The first weeks of a new season will often be the hardest to predict when betting on professional League of Legends. At the same time, this is also the time where it’s possible to get the best return on investment before the odds settle.

This is no different in the match between DWG KIA and KT Rolster, as both teams will enter with new and unpredictable changes to their rosters. DWG KIA is still the clear favorite as it should be, but nothing is stopping KT Rolster from taking one game or maybe even making the upset and winning the whole series. Considering the early stage of the season and the odds, value can be found in KT Rolster this time around.

Despite being a completely new season for both teams, DWG KIA winning the match will only give a small odds 1.2. Meanwhile, KT Rolster will give a high odds 4.05 if the team manages to win.

The match between DWG KIA and KT Rolster kicks off on Thursday, January 13.
