Yesterday the head coach of Valorant team DRX said that star player Jung “Foxy9” Jae-sung will not participate at VCT Champions.

The youngster, known for his impressive fragging ability, was part of the starting lineup for DRX during the most recent VCT Masters tournament, which took place in Tokyo, Japan. Meanwhile, the veteran player Kim “Zest” Ki-seok is set to remain on the team, head coach Pyeon “termi” Seon-ho said during the post-match press conference following DRX’s victory over LOUD in the second match of VCT Champions.

Termi praised Foxy9 during the press conference with the youngster performing to a high standard. “I think a lot of people want to know…I want to tell you that Foxy9 is doing really well and that he’s playing up to his best in practice and scrims,” termi said.

But the coach said that Foxy9 is yet to reach his full potential and the team is “waiting for him to hit that height and gain some experience.” As a result, Zest is set to retain his spot on the roster for the rest of the event since the starting five was confirmed following Masters Tokyo, termi said.

DRX take down LOUD in their first match at VCT Champions

The Korean team was able to take down former world Champions LOUD in the second match of the VCT Champions 2023. DRX lost the first map by a slim margin following a lights-out performance from LOUD star player Erick “aspas” Santos, who almost dropped 30 kills.

But DRX bounced back in the second and third map in dominating fashion. The Korean team trashed LOUD on Split 13-6 while Ascent was slightly closer at 13-8.

With this victory DRX is set to play against Natus Vincere following the latter’s victory over Team Liquid in the opening match of the tournament. The game will be streamed live on official VCT channels on August 7, 2023 – 18:00 PT / 21:00 ET, August 8, 2023 – 03:00 CEST.
