YouTube streamer and game creator Herschel “Dr Disrespect” Beahm IV shocked fans when he revealed that he once asked Elon Musk to work alongside him at his game studio Midnight Society.
Midnight Society has become Dr Disrespect’s pride and joy as of late, with The Two-Time even claiming he may step away from streaming full-time to focus on his own battle royale game. While there have been some past criticisms of the game’s development plan, his fans have been loyal throughout the process. And even more are excited to learn that Dr Disrespect is hoping Elon Musk gets on board.
On Thanksgiving Day, Dr Disrespect posted a tweet where he claimed to have “pitched Midnight Society to Elon” while flying with him on a private jet. His own private jet, to be exact. The attached photo made the tweet seem like satire, but fans weren’t too sure.
The use of the phrase “I’ll keep you updated” had many wondering if Dr Disrespect actually had something up his sleeve. Musk has openly admitted that he likes gaming in the past. It didn’t seem too wacky of a concept that Musk would invest in Midnight Society or decide to become involved in some way.
While Dr Disrespect has been critical of Musk’s handling of Twitter, it seems like the two may be on the same page when it comes to video games.
The response to the possible collaboration was mixed. A lot of people were intrigued by the idea of Musk getting involved, hoping that Midnight Society may get more funding. Others, however, worried that Musk would “take credit” for the upcoming game or that he would sink the company.
Dr Disrespect’s game company came under fire a few months back when he announced that NFTs would be involved. Involving Musk is yet another controversy possibly on the horizon. For now, however, it’s unclear if the tweet is completely satirical or if there is some truth behind the concept.
