Dota Summit 13 Online announced, event supported by Valve

Valve will support Dota Summit 13 and boost its prize pool significantly.

The game developer has proven true to its word. It is now supporting online events to fill the game’s gaps in the esports calendar. Dota 2 Summit 13 is one of the online events that will be financially supported by Valve.

Last month, Valve told fans that the publisher would offer financial help to many tournament organizers all around the globe.

“For this upcoming competitive season, there are going to be at least four third party events and leagues in EU/CIS events, three in China, and a few others that are still in the preliminary planning stages and are not able to commit at this time,” Valve said in its blog.

David “GoDz” Parker, popular commentator and co-founder of Beyond the Summit, confirmed that Valve gave financial support for the event. This would mean that the prize pool for smaller regions such as North America, South America, and Southeast Asia will increase significantly.

Dota 2 Summit 13 boasts a whopping $250,000 prize pool. The prize pool distribution will be the same as the previous BTS events. Dota Summit 12 is the last LAN event in its scale before cross-region competitions were brought to a halt this year.

Dota 2 Summit is back with a three-division online event. The tournament will run from October 21 to November 8. As expected, the divisions will be Europe and CIS, Southeast Asia, and North and South America.

Fans should watch out for the list of participants in the coming weeks. Dota 2 Summits usually attracts a huge number of fans from all across the globe. With its first online iteration, fans will surely be hungry for some top-tier Dota 2 action.

ESL One Germany is on its way and the top teams from Europe and CIS are participating in the event. This might conflict with these teams’ schedules and give more spots to tier-two and tier-three teams.

That is something fans will have to wait and find out more about as the list of participants is unveiled.
