Creep gold and movement speed change in Dota patch

Dota 2’s latest patch is here and players are going to feel it in a big way.

The full patch notes for version 7.21 dropped on the official Dota 2 website, marking the end of the three-month run for version 7.20. With that shift comes a list of changes that tackle some of the features the development team has been addressing since The International 2018.

The first change that Dota 2 players will feel is to movement speed, as some melee heroes receive boosts and quicker ranged heroes are slowed. Some heroes are further affected by changes made to items that amplify movement speed, including Eul’s Scepter, Drum of Endurance, and some boots.

The value of ranged creeps relative to melee creeps was further increased, with melee creep payouts being reduced while ranged creep gold accelerates faster. Also in lane, tier-two and tier-three towers received small buffs to their armor and protective auras.

Nearly every hero had its abilities or stats tweaked. No hero received a full rework this patch but pro favorites such as Io, Chen, and Beastmaster were retooled. Dragon Knight and Nyx Assassin received numerous buffs while Lich and Grimstroke were heavily nerfed.

The launch of 7.21 will be accompanied by some changes to Dota 2’s UI and ranking system.

With the start of the new season, all players’ standings will be reset and each rank will now include seven tiers instead of five. Dota Plus subscribers will receive a new batch of seasonal quests and four new exclusive skins for Monkey King, Medusa, Enchantress, and Centaur Warrunner. Finally, players’ “numerical behavior score” will now be visible in their profile and conduct summaries, giving them a better idea of how they are received by teammates and opponents.

The update is currently live and available for download through Steam.
