Christopher Judge wins Best Performance at 2022 Game Awards

The God of War games have been hugely successful following the franchise’s reinvention in 2018 with the eponymous God of War. The brutal-but-hurt God of War seeking a life of peace brought a new depth to the character of Kratos, in large part thanks to Judge’s impressive performance pulling at gamers’ heartstrings.

During his speech, Judge thanks his family, friends, and the creative teams around him at Sony Santa Monica Studios. There were several interesting stories that the bassy-voiced actor divulged in his time up at the microphone accepting the award.

During his speech for Best Performance, Christopher Judge spoke about how when God of War (2018) director Cory Barlog told him that he wouldn’t be directing the next game, Judge quit on the spot. Barlog stood up for replacement Eric Williams however, saying that Judge could trust Williams to faithfully carry on his work.

Judge said that he thought “Eric Williams better be a beast” before following up that “Eric Williams is a m____ beast!” He spoke about how as a dirctor, Williams once came to him while he was sobbing after an emotionally difficult scene and after, consoling him, said: “Alright big guy, now give us something we can use.”

Judge’s speech was full of the charisma and grace that fans have come to expect from him, even saying he voted for co-star Sunny Suljic to win in his place. It’s hard to say that anybody deserved the award more than Judge, however, given his gracious acceptance and exceptional acting.
