Bayonetta’s original voice actor asks fans to boycott Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta’s voice actor has revealed the shockingly low amount she was offered to voice Bayonetta 3 and is now asking Nintendo fans to boycott the game.

Bayonetta 3 has been one of the most hyped games for the Nintendo Switch after it was announced earlier this year. Fans have been anxiously awaiting the return of the Umbra Witch due to the game’s incredible action and sultry, strong protagonist. But now, voice actor Hellena Taylor is asking fans to hold off on purchasing the game.

According to Taylor, she was offered an incredibly low amount to voice the character, leading to her calling out PlatniumGames and Nintendo on social media.

Bayonetta voice actor reveals incredibly low offer for voicing Bayonetta 3

Earlier today, Taylor took to Twitter to ask Nintendo fans to boycott Bayonetta 3.

According to the talented voice actress, she was only offered $4,000 to voice the entirety of the game despite the franchise making $450 million off the games alone.

“And what did they think I was worth? What did they offer to pay me? The final offer to do the whole game as a buyout, flat rate, was $4,000. This is an insult to me, the amount of time that I took to work on my talent, and everything that I have given to this game and to the fans,” Taylor stated.

Due to the shockingly low offer, Taylor experienced depression and even suicidal thoughts, fearing she would be “on the streets.” She said she currently can’t even afford to run her car.

Taylor trained to be a professional voice actor for over seven years. She has been the beloved voice of the iconic character for previous games. Now, Taylor is asking fans to boycott the game to “stand up in solidarity with people all over the world” who are not getting paid for their talents. While she is not usually a “fighter,” Taylor is asking for anyone who cares about people to fight against Nintendo by hitting their wallet.

“I didn’t want the world and didn’t ask for too much. I was just asking for a decent, dignified, livable wage. What they did was legal, but it was immoral,” Taylor said.

The gaming community was largely in shock along with Taylor. Many condemned Nintendo for the insultingly low compensation. Others brought up how the gaming industry as a whole has mistreated and underpaid voice actors and other talent.

So far, PlatinumGames and Nintendo have not responded to the outrage from the gaming community nor Taylor’s claims.

“Bayonetta always stands up for those with less power and stands up for what is right. And in doing this, you stand with her,” Taylor said.
