Alter is coming to Apex Legends in Season 21
The next legend on the Apex Legends roster is coming and she looks quite powerful.
Season 21 — aka Escape — will bring a lot of changes, including new game modes and a new map. Another exciting addition to the game will be Alter, a new legend that has an interesting backstory and even more intriguing abilities.
Here’s what we know so far about Alter in Apex Legends.
Who is Alter in Apex Legends?
Respawn Entertainment recently dropped a trailer that shows Alter in a very terrifying light.
The caption reads: “Born from stone with tremendous power. Trained in the art of assassination. A hunter of the old ways. If you ask Alter ‘Who are you?’ she will never give you an honest answer.”
In the trailer, Alter offers a few moments from her life that have made her the powerful force of death she is today. But what’s true and what’s just a story? According to Alter, she became an assassin to seek revenge after her parents were dead and she was betrayed by previous employees who trained her.
But she’s also a soccer player and Mahjong champion. And she also was born from a stone of great power that allowed her to fight ancient beasts as she searched for immortality.
Yeah, it’s a lot. And it’s hard to know what’s true. As the trailer continues she seems to get more and more mad.
The trailer doesn’t explain how Alter joined the Apex Games or how she’s connected to the rest of the legends’ lore. But she does briefly show a photo of Horizon and her son at the end of the trailer.
“I’m the one at the end… Or am I?” she says maniacally.
For now, it’s actually a bit unclear what Alter’s backstory is completely. The trailer was leaked early, which gamers mocked Respawn for online, but even seeing the video early hasn’t really allowed people to truly understand Alter’s motives.
“I can fix her,” a fan simply replied.
Alter abilities and kit in Apex Legends
The trailer hints at some possible powers that Alter possesses but doesn’t reveal any actual abilities yet. The gameplay trailer is set to come out this Friday, May 3.
It looks like Alter will make use of her mechanical tail, which seems to attack and harm enemies. Maybe it will act as a scorpion tail and poison opponents or maybe it will help her have more mobility.
It also seems like she will have assassin-inspired abilities focused on up-close combat. As a terrifying assassin this would only make sense. We expect her to do damage at close range and possibly have moves that catch enemies by surprise to let her sneak attack them.
For now, these are all speculations. We won’t know any confirmed abilities until Respawn developers drop the gameplay trailer in a few days.
