All romance options in Persona 5 Royal in 2022

Persona 5 Royal is addicting for many reasons, but its extensive romance options are what keep players hooked. Here’s how to get a girlfriend in Persona 5 Royal.

In 2022, there are plenty of open-world RPG games, but Persona 5 Royal remains a staple. The mysterious metaphysical heist is mind-bending, but the game’s romantic side helps keep things light. But make no mistake: maxing out confidants and getting a girlfriend in Persona 5 is no easy feat. Players must buy gifts, build a personality, and have extra charm or Knowledge to woo the girls. 

There are 10 female characters in Persona 5 Royal that players can date, but it takes a lot of work to get into a relationship with everyone. Here’s how to get a girlfriend in Persona 5 Royal and where to find each female character.

Ann Takamaki

Dating Ann Takamaki is the easiest in Personal 5 Royal since she’s the first confidant that can be unlocked early in the game, so it’s also comparatively easier to maximize. To date her, players must find her in the right spot at the right time, which is at the Underground Shopping Mall in the afternoon throughout the week except for Thursday and Saturday. 

Make sure you’re carrying Lovers Arcana while hanging out with Ann to maximize your confidant quickly. You’ll need Kindness rank 2 to spend time with Ann for the first time. Once you solidify the bond to level 9, you’ll get an option to romance Ann Takamaki. 

Ann is the easiest confidant to unlock so far, but there are nine others in Persona 5 Royal that players may fancy. Here are their locations, kindness levels, and matching arcana.

Makoto Niijima

• Location: Outside of the Student Council Office in Shujin Academy
• Days: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons
• Arcana: Priestess
• Level: Knowledge rank 3, level 5 charm to progress

Makoto Niijima is a pretty popular character, but she’s not easy to impress. After initiating contact at level 3 of Knowledge, Joker must acquire maximum charm at rank 6 to continue progress with Makoto. She can be found next to the library on the school’s third floor. Romance with Makoto begins at level 9. 

Futaba Sakura

• Location:  Outside of LeBlanc on a clear day
• Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons
• Arcana: Hermit Arcana
• Level: Kindness rank 4

Futaba can be found sitting outside Cafe Leblanc during the day

Once you’ve unlocked her social link. Kindness rank 4 is enough to commence contact, but you’ll also need to complete the “Daughter’s Just a Meal Ticket” mementos mission at rank 8 in order to romance Futaba at rank 9.

Tae Takemi

• Location: Takemi Medical Clinic in Yongen-Jaya
• Days: Full week
• Arcana: Death Arcana
• Level: Guts rank 2, Level 4 Charm at rank 7 

Dating Tae is also a bit shady, but it’s thrilling. Tae uses Joker as a guinea pig to test out drugs and, in return, she grants valuable items from the doctor’s office. You only need level 2 Guts to initiate contact with Tae, but level 4 charm at rank 7 is crucial to continue progress. Tae’s confidant also requires a “Bad Medicine” Mementos mission.

Sadayo Kawakami

• Location: Use the payphone in Leblanc to call Kawakami
• Days: Friday and Saturday night
• Arcana: Temperance Arcana
• Level: Guts rank 3

Similar to Tae, dating Sadayo is a bit in the grey area of ethics as she’s your teacher, but she’s worth impressing due to her incredible skills. Joker can save plenty of time once Sadayo is impressed enough to perform tasks for him. She’s comparatively easy to woo but at rank 9, you’ll need to complete the “A Teacher Maid to Suffer” Mementos request.

Haru Okumura

• Location: Rooftop of Shujin Academy on a clear day
• Days: Full week in the afternoon 
• Arcana: Empress Arcana
• Level: Proficiency Rank 5

Romancing Haru is challenging due to her late availability in the game. She only enters the picture in the latter half of the game, so only a few manage to maximize her confidant. 

Hifumi Togo

• Location: Kanda Church
• Days: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings
• Arcana: Star Arcana
• Level: Charm Rank 3 

Hifumi isn’t plot-relevant, but she’s a valuable character to have ties with. She teaches Joker Shoji and is Joker’s only age-mate not to belong to the Phantom Thief. Level 3 charm is enough to hang out with Hifumi, but Rank 8 will require maximum Knowledge to proceed. You will also be required to finish the “Upstaging the Stage Mother” mission before you can initiate romance with Hifumi at rank 9.

Ichiko Ohya

• Location: Crossroads Bar in Shinjuku
• Days: Full week in the evenings
• Arcana: Devil Arcana
• Level: Charm Rank 3

Ohya is a gray journalist who could be a helpful companion, but she’s not the best to have a relationship with. However, if you’re just looking to get a girlfriend in Persona 5 Royal quickly, she’s your best bet, as she’s unlocked early in the game. To progress with Ichiko, you must complete the “Fighting For Truth in Journalism” Mementos request. 

Chihaya Mifune

• Location: Streets of Shinjuku
• Days: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings
• Arcana: Wheel of Fortune

Building a romance with Mifune requires 100,000 yen. You must buy Holy Stone from her and unlock the Mementos missions “Ending the Boyfriend’s Abuse” to progress and “Debunking the Psychic!” at rank 8 before you can start romancing her.

Kasumi Yoshizawa

• Location: Streets of Kichijoji
• Arcana: Faith Arcana

Kasumi is Persona 5 Royal’s only new female character, so she’s still pretty popular and desirable. However, her rare appearance makes it tricky to maximize her confidant. Kasumi only shows up in the game during the Wednesday afternoons of June, September, and November, and certain days of July, August, and December.
