While all of the players scheduled to compete at The International successfully arrived in Vancouver, without issue, one notable caster did not.

A year removed from being denied entry into the United States ahead of The International 2017, former Alliance player Henrik “AdmiralBulldog” Ahnberg was unable to enter Canada to attend TI8. He broke the news over social media, but didn’t offer many specifics.

“I just want to be completely transparent with you guys, in my late teens, 8 years ago I did one stupid fucking mistake man,” he said. “Nothing serious but enough to have a dot on my record… however Canada is very strict about this stuff and while I still can get into Canada the procedures have been unbelievably slow.”

Last year, AdmiralBulldog was denied entry to the United States while landing in Seattle-Tacoma Airport due to visa issues stemming from his work status for the event. This resulted in him being immediately put on a return flight from Seattle to Sweden and raised questions over how Valve and PGL handled the process of bringing in international broadcast talent.

This year’s issues, it seems, are completely separate from those. AdmiralBulldog has told fans that he will have the issue sorted for the future.
