Controversial Twitch streamer Adin Ross is calling on the streaming platform to ban hot tub streams entirely.

Hot tub streaming has been a big part of Twitch for the past few years. After big influencers like Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa spearheaded the concept of streaming in a bikini from inside an inflatable pool to get around Twitch’s Terms of Service, Twitch was forced to make hot tub streaming its own category. Since then, a large amount of female streamers have used the category to their advantage, sometimes using it as a funnel to their OnlyFans and other platforms.

The steamy streams have been an ongoing topic of controversy since many big names feel that the streams break Twitch’s guidelines on sexual content and attire. And now Adin Ross has decided to speak out against them.

On a stream this weekend, Ross accused hot tub streamers of sharing inappropriate content under the guise of the Twitch-approved category.

“I think we have a problem, Twitch. The hot tub streams, bro. I think it should be banned from Twitch. It’s soft porn. It’s a portal to OnlyFans. It’s in the same category as gambling, promoting poison in the brain. It’s making people feeding their addiction to jerking off, a serious problem we have,” Ross said.

Porn addiction is a real issue in countries that have access to pornographic content. About 200,000 Americans are addicted to porn, which is defined by obsessively watching porn or thinking about watching porn, losing interest in real life sex, and spending money on porn and other sex-related services. To Ross, having hot tub streaming is a gateway to porn addiction, just as watching Felix “xQc” Lengyel play slots was seen as a gateway to gambling addiction.

This is definitely a strong take that will have viewers torn.

How many hot tub streamers are on Twitch?

The Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches category on Twitch is as strong as ever. It currently has 598K followers. The live streams at the time of this article include a woman dancing in a bikini, a woman doing yoga in a bikini, a woman in a bathing suit getting an oily massage, and a woman stretching on the beach. A livestream of a woman sitting on the edge of her blow-up pool with a mirror showing her backside currently has over 2,000 live viewers.

It’s unclear exactly how many hot tub streamers are on Twitch but there are usually 150 to 250 hot tub streamers online at any given day.
