You can now play Among Us in CSGO, and this is how

Among Us is still a popular game, and it seems like the game of deception and strategy has come full circle, appearing inside Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as a custom map.

Among Us is a spiritual successor to a popular mod for Garry’s Mod called Trouble in Terrorist Town, where players have to figure out which one of their teammates is actually an imposter before they manage to wipe out the entire team. Garry’s Mod is built on the Source engine, just like CSGO, so it was only a matter of time before someone brought the gameplay from Among Us and TTT to CSGO.

CSGO’s Among Us gamemode is masterfully done

The gamemode a rocking good time, taking a queue from what makes Among Us and TTT popular and giving them a CSGO skin. Hear footsteps? Maybe the imposter is legging it after an early kill. Too quiet? Maybe they’re in the vents.

The map and its custom gamemode are only available on Cybershoke.net, a third-party server provider in Europe. The site also offers a bunch of different server setups, including deathmatch, bunnyhop, and KZ servers. Along withe those, Cybershoke also has servers for another classic mod called prop hunt, that has a team of players turning into everyday objects to try and hide from another player who has to sniff them out.

CSGO’s Among Us map looks just like the real thing

CSGO’s signature style meshes well with the map, made for the server provider by CSGO map maker 3X1s7. Although the map is only playable on Cybershoke, 3x1S7 gave WIN.gg a look at the well-designed map.

The ship from Among Us, named the “Skeld,” comes across well using CSGO’s updated lighting made available by Valve over the past several years, and while complicated, the scripts that make the map run don’t seem stuck on the fact that CSGO came out nearly ten years ago.

Among Us’s gameplay originally drew fans in late last year where a sudden surge of players poured into the game. Originally released all the way back in 2018, player counts for Among Us have skyrocketed thanks to its simple mechanics and its popularity among some of Twitch’s biggest streamers, including pokimane, DrLupo, and Sweet_Anita.

While players won’t be able to play 3x1S7’s version unless they head to Cybershoke, the CSGO Steam Workshop has more than a few different designs all made for Trouble in Terrorist Town.
