Scott Pilgrim Season 2

Scott Pilgrim fans were beyond hype when the animated series came to Netflix and the show is living up to expectations. Will it be getting a second season?

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off currently has a 98% from critics on Rotten Tomato and an 87% audience score. Fans of the graphic novel and iconic movie have emphasized the show’s reimagination of the classic story as well as the character development many felt was missing from the film.

With so many fans gushing over the unique take on Scott Pilgrim, will the Netflix show have a second season?

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Season 2 not planned

Even though Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is largely praised by viewers, creators Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski are most likely not making a second season.

It seems like Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is a one-and-done show that’s self-contained. O’Malley told Rolling Stone that he “loved what we did,” but there are no more ideas regarding the show.

“We pretty much put them all in,” he said. “I never say never, but right now, it seems like it would take about 50 different miracles simultaneously for another season to happen. So we’ll see.”

O’Malley added that they even envisioned it as one season from the start. He explained that they “hedged our bets” and purposefully created a self-contained show to avoid people complaining about Netflix canceling the show. Basically, they didn’t plan any more storylines or content from the beginning.

Grabinski replied that they are “not working” on a sequel. The first season has a “really great ending” that the team is proud of. But he did add, like O’Malley, that you can never truly know.

“Maybe some day one of us will text each other an idea that’s really great for a Season Two,” he admitted. “But for now, my entire brain and heart is in this thing, and just getting it out into the world.”

So don’t expect anything. For now.
