Who is Yunjin? New Genshin Impact character may introduce dendro

Genshin Impact’s Yunjin could introduce the final dendro element by singing opera.

New details have emerged about upcoming Genshin Impact character Yunjin. Leakers have revealed her full in-game model, and existing flavor text offers some insight into her lore. Most importantly, data miners have suggested that Yunjin could be the first playable Dendro character added to Genshin Impact. Here’s everything we know about Yunjin and when she could appear on a banner of her own.

The most important leak is a fully-rendered character model hidden deep in the game’s code. Yunjin’s physical appearance is befitting a renowned opera singer. She wears a modest dress with a colorful frock as a hat. Several leaked voice lines from the beta imply that she is famous for her singing voice, which could be represented by her elemental abilities. Both Xinyan and Barbara already combine their musical abilities and vision to fight. 

Yunjin’s vision and weapon in Genshin Impact

Data miners have found files that indicate that Yunjin will be a polearm-user when she releases in Genshin Impact. Spear-users are generally very flexible, so Yunjin’s role could be as main DPS, sub DPS, or support. If she does not turn out to be the first dendro character, Yunjin’s color palette could indicate an electro or hydro vision.

Yunjin’s elemental burst and skill are also unknown, but early rumors suggest that she could introduce dendro to the game. Dendro is the only Genshin Impact element without any playable characters. The next nation of Sumeru is based on the dendro element, so miHoYo could try to ease the mechanic in before the area’s release.

When is Yunjin’s release date?

There is no official release date for Yunjin, but leakers estimate that she will appear as part of Genshin Impact update 2.4. As of writing, the game is currently in update 2.2. Yunjin could be a four-star or five-star character, but considering that there are many playable characters left in Inazuma, she may well be a four-star on release.

It’s possible that Yunjin will be a part of the final batch of Inazuma characters. Several other characters, including Yae Miko and Yaoyao, are still waiting for a banner after Arataki Itto and Gorou. Expect Genshin Impact update 2.4 to release sometime in early 2022.
