Minecraft players all know the name Phillip “Philza” Watson. But people new to Minecraft may not know much about Philza or his involvement in the popular sandbox game.

Philza, sometimes known as Philza Minecraft or Phil, is a YouTuber and Twitch streamer that is best known for his Hardcore Minecraft world and the massive building projects that take place within them. Philza has also become quite prominent in Dream SMP, gaining him even more followers as a result.

The 33-year-old content creator joined Twitch in 2017. He has played other games in the past but mostly focuses on Minecraft. He often spends time in his Hardcore world.

Philza has over 3.8 million followers on Twitch, where he streams three times per week. He also shares highlights on YouTube, where he has 2.82 million subscribers. Philz is often found collaborating with other Minecraft content creators, such as TommyInnit.

What is a Hardcore world in Minecraft?

Hardcore is a Minecraft mode that’s locked on the game’s hardest difficulty. This means players cannot respawn after dying. It’s sometimes described as the “Hunger Games of Minecraft,” since teams will often gang up to attack each other. When someone dies they are banned from the server and can’t rejoin, making it an intense survival of the fittest.

Philza created the Hardcore world and spent 118 episodes within it. The series ended when his computer’s hard drive died. His final score is now unknown.

Philza then created a second Hardcore world for a second season of episodes, where he spent the next five years playing. During his time in the second Hardcore world, Philza built various projects, including Chaos Caverns and Sky City. But it all came to an end on April 24, 2019 when a baby zombie in enchanted gold armor killed him in a cave. His final score was 761,246.

The final project was Witch Farm, but Philza died while working on it. This underground area was entirely excavated by hand, taking him a few months to start building until his untimely death within the game.

While depressing to his fans, Philza decided to try again. He got to work on Season 3 right away but only survived a week and a half in his new attempt. A glitch had killed him, pushing him off End islands with a final score of 37,292.

Philza is now on his fourth season. This is where he is currently streaming. Philza created Endlantis and the Nether Void. Now he is working on Flower Fall, and all of the projects are connected by lore. Flower Fall is home to the Ocean Overlord and is full of flowers and trees. There will also be a slime farm and a big void beneath a monument.
