Who is Illari in Overwatch 2? Abilities, trailer, and more
Overwatch has a new support character, Illari, who draws powers from the sun to heal teammates. Here’s all we know about Illari’s abilities.
The latest Overwatch 2 Invasion trailer has a lot to unpack, but fans are mostly interested in the new hero teased. Carrying a giant gun and propelling herself into the air, the new hero looks fierce. But exactly how good Illari is at supporting?
Overwatch 2 has shared the first look at Illari in the Invasion teaser alongside new hero buffs, nerfs, and Flashpoint. The trailer begins with Illari bursting into the playground out of a giant fire-like glow, leading to a more elaborate look at her toolkit.
What are Illari’s abilities in Overwatch?
Blizzard hasn’t officially revealed Illari’s abilities, but the trailer gives away the basics. Inspired by the sun and its restorative powers, Illari enters the fray as the ultimate healer. Hailing from Peru, her name also translates to “sunrise.” Here are all her abilities teased in the trailer.
Illari equips a massive solar-powered railgun that shoots massive fireballs, dealing significant damage to her enemies. She also seems to have some sort of vertical mobility while wielding the gun, which propels her to a higher position. Escaping duels after dealing insta-damage could be her specialty.
Her signature ability is the healing turret, similar to Symmetra’s Sentry Turrets, except hers doesn’t hurt. It heals. By attaching her turret to an object, Illari can distribute healing among teammates nearby. In fast-paced competitive matches, this could be a game-changer.
Finally, Captive Sun propels Illari to the sky, which then releases a giant damage-inflicting AoE as she forces enemies to “face the sunrise.” This is likely her ultimate, as it looks too overpowered to work like a generic power.
Overall, Illari’s toolkit blends healing and brawling power together, making her an ideal hero to play in the current Overwatch 2.
Illari enters the hero lineup in Overwatch 2 Season 6, slated for August 10. Besides the new hero, players will also get to enjoy new missions, Flashpoint mode, map updates, and more.
