When will the new CDL season kick off? Here’s all we know
Although we don’t have an exact date as to when the upcoming 2024 CDL (Call of Duty League) season will get underway, we can reveal when it’s most likely to start.
Last year’s Call of Duty League (2023 CDL) kicked off towards the beginning of December, almost exactly four weeks after the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2) was released. In previous years, the CDL usually did not start until February.
The latest instalment in the franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, is officially set to arrive on November 10th, but it’s unclear yet whether the league will get underway like last year, around one month after the game’s release or in early 2024. We will have to wait and see.

Who will be competing in the upcoming Call of Duty League?
The main esports teams that will be competing in the upcoming 2024 CDL will be Atlanta FaZe, Boston Breach, Carolina Royal Ravens, Las Vegas Legion, Los Angeles Guerrillas, and Los Angeles Thieves.
Others include Miami Heretics, Minnesota ROKKR, New York Subliners, OpTic Texas, Seattle Surge, and Toronto Ultra.
Interested parties would also be betting on the game through licensed South African online bookmakers, such as the official 10bet website. It’s a betting rod in SA on esports and is well-known for having some of the iGaming industry’s most competitive esports betting odds and a wide range of pre-match and live (aka in-play) betting markets per event.
What other major esports leagues and tournaments are there?
Apart from the Call of Duty League – one of the world’s most iconic esports leagues, some of the other popular esports leagues you can also generally watch and place bets on are the ESL Pro League, the Blast Premier, the Overwatch League, and The International.
Others include the League of Legends Championship, the Fortnite World Cup, the Mid-Season Invitational, Major League Gaming, and ELeague. You also have the Intel Extreme Masters, the League of Legends World Championships, and World of Warcraft Esports tournaments.
If you haven’t already guessed, some of the biggest games played at these events are Fortnite, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Call of Duty, Minecraft, FIFA 23, PUBG: Battlegrounds, and Valorant.
Other popular games played at today’s biggest esports events are Wild Rift, World of Warcraft (WoW), Dota 2, Rocket League, Overwatch, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, to name just a few.
What can the professional esports teams win at the CDL?
Huge cash prizes are up for grabs. Take last year, for example, when the New York Subliners walked away with the top prize worth a cool $1,000,000. In second place was team Toronto Ultra. They won $660K. Atlanta FaZe netted $320K for finishing in third place, and Seattle Surge (4th) won $160K.
In 5th/6th Boston Breach/Texas OpTic (both won $80K), and in 7th/8th were Minnesota ROKKR/Los Angeles Thieves (both won $40K). A similar prize structure is likely to be in place at 2024 CDL.
Players must be at least 18 years old to play in any official Call of Duty Leagues, just like you usually have to be at least 18 years old to bet on esports events at licensed online sports betting sites like 10bet.
When signing up to a licensed online bookmaker to place bets on any upcoming esports matches, always take the time to understand what the odds/implied probability rates are trying to tell you.
Understanding this basic information can help you place more informed bets. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience each time you log in to your account to place bets on esports events, remember to set a budget and then stay within that budget.
One great tool many online sports bettors use is the deposit limit tool. Others like to set session time limits or win/loss limits. Also, remember that odds are subject to change and that no bets are guaranteed to return a profit.
